Biography

Born and brought up on a small farm in the Cotswolds I have been lucky to be surrounded by beautiful landscapes and many field and farmyard residents. We had chickens, ducks, sheep, cattle, donkeys, cats and dogs. Inspiration was everywhere, and from a young age I was always creative.

I studied Art all through my school years, and was lucky to have very inspirational teachers. I went straight from A-levels into another passion, Picture Framing. I love the variety it provides. Serving local artists in the shop and advising on the extensive number of mediums was very rewarding. It all kept my artistic flare current, and ideas fluent.

Over the years I have learnt ceramics and mosaics, but my love of painting has always remained a constant. I can always find an odd hour to put new ideas down on paper or canvas. I am also well-used locally as a children’s face painter!

However I am probably best known for my trademark comical pigs, nosy cows, and wonky donkeys. I love to show the amusing sides of farmyard animals. Showing the glint in an eye, or painting the sheen on a nose is the key to creating personality in my particular subject.

I especially relish painting peoples pets. Getting the character right is crucial and I enjoy the challenge and the fantastic feeling of getting it right! I work in many different mediums -; oils, watercolours, pastels and pen and ink.

Recently I have been designing mugs for Aga. This has opened up a fun world of Aga and pet portrait painting.
